Okayama Korakuen is a daimyo garden built during the Edo period by Ikeda Tsunamasa, the feudal lord of Okayama. The garden features expansive lawns, ponds, tea houses, and is designed as a “strolling garden” that allows visitors to enjoy the scenery while walking. Historical structures such as the lord’s residence Enyōtei and a Noh stage are also preserved within the garden. It is ranked among Japan’s Three Great Gardens, along with Kairakuen in Mito and Kenrokuen in Kanazawa, and has been designated a National Special Place of Scenic Beauty. The Okayama Prefectural Museum was established to collect, preserve, and pass down cultural heritage from prehistoric, ancient, and early modern periods, while displaying representative artifacts. One of Okayama’s must-visit attractions, the castle keep clad in black panels is known as the "Ujo". It is also nicknamed "Golden Ujo" due to its roof adorned with gold leaf tiles.
