With 2025 Osaka Expo, JR West Japan launches "WEST QR" for easier rides!

To enhance the convenience of Kansai travel, JR West Japan officially launches the QR code riding service on phones (WEST QR)! Passengers can simply present the QR code on their phones to enter stations after purchasing tickets, making Keihan Travel more convenient.

Even easier for overseas visitors! The service is also available for the "HARUKA Express."

Overseas visitors can use the WEST QR riding service at designated areas and routes by presenting the HARUKA One-Way Tickets they purchased, making transportation even easier!

JR WEST QR Ticket Purchase Steps & Usage Regulations

Follow the following steps or click here to view the tutorial video！

①You can book the tickets via Klook or other travel agencies.

②Sign up for a JR WEST QR account and register your tickets.

1. You will receive a QR code for JR WEST upon completing the payment. Scroll down and click on "Link this ticket to your account."

2. Go to the JR WEST QR page, fill in your personal information step by step, and link the ticket to your account once completed.


Important Reminder：

※Once the ticket is registered, it becomes non-transferable.

※An internet connection is required when passing through the ticket gates. For those without a smartphone, please register the ticket under the account of a companion.

 

③Select the schedule & Reserve a seat

After selecting the ticket you wish to reserve, click on "HARUKA seat reservation" to choose your train and seat.

 

④Activate the ticket

Review the schedule again, and if everything looks correct, simply click on "Use ticket."

※Once click on "Use ticket," you will not alowed to change the date for use.

Find the red QR scanner, show your QR code to it, and you can enter the station.

Important Reminder：

※Not all station ticket gates have QR code scanners, but most major stations have at least one ticket gate        with a QR code scanner.

※If you encounter any difficulties while scanning your ticket, please ask the station staff for assistance.


JR WEST QR Ticket Common Q&A

Q1: Can the ticket be changed after successfully booking the schedule and reserved seat?

Yes, you can. However, please note that if you do not click on the "Use Ticket" button at least 3 minutes before departure, the reserved seat will no longer be valid, and you will need to repurchase one.

If you have already clicked the "Use Ticket" button and scanned the QR code, the ticket will no longer be eligible for changes. Select your reserved train and seat, or choose an unreserved seat on a different train on the same day.

 

Q2: What should I do if I accidentally activate my ticket?

1. Click the robot at the bottom right

2. Select your language and click "Urgent inquiries while using West-QR"

3. Then click "I mistakenly pressed the "Use ticket" button

4. Follow the instructions provided by the robot and wait for the guest service's reply

 

Q3：Can I transfer after getting off the train?

The usage is the same as with physical tickets. After riding the HARUKA to stations such as Osaka, Kyoto, and Tennoji, you can transfer to the Shin-Kaisoku (Shinkansen Rapid), Kaisoku (Rapid), or local trains (ordinary trains) with unreserved seats to other city stations. For more details, please refer to the official website.

 

Important Reminder：

※ Limited-time tickets cannot be used for transfers to local trains.

※ Once you exit the station, the ticket will become invalid.

 

Q4：Can I change the usage date of an electronic ticket purchased online?

The JR WEST QR HARUKA is a dated ticket. Once the electronic ticket is linked, the valid usage period will be displayed, and it can be used anytime within that period.
